A growing number of kids and young students are being bullied online. Recently developments in technology have been made to fight back and stop these offenders.

The attached video includes interviews and testimonials from children who have been victims of cyberbullying and provides a perspective from them that is truly saddening and eye opening. The video from CBS highlights a few new technologies that are working to stop cyberbullying.

MetLife Defender

According to the video, this tool, "Monitors online accounts for abusive content and then sends alerts to parents.

StopIt App

From the video, "Allows users to capture images of cyberbullying and anonymously report it". Went on to say, "This feature is the most popular on the app for users who want to help stop cyberbullying but are often worried about retaliation". The StopIt application has been used in schools by students to decrease the amount of cyberbullying and implement a system of accountability and social responsibility.

These are just a couple examples of new developments in technology to stop cyberbullying. However, one point made towards the end of the video was that victims still need someone to talk to and a way of working through their bullying events with an authority figure, its not enough just to rely on new technology to fix all the problems. Personal support and a listening ear can never be matched in the wake of a bullying event.
